Track Police and Speed Traps with Google Maps!

Google Maps is taking on GPS and traffic application ‘Waze’ with some brand-new capabilities. Now users can see speed traps with google maps! You can even report them if you want to save someone a headache.

Customers around the globe will quickly be able to see and report where cops and speed traps are. Only a few apps have done this in the past and they drew a lot of criticism for it.

The ability to help the community avoid traffic tickets from red light cameras, roadside radar cameras, and bored police officers is frowned upon by law enforcement. Police insist that features like this will enable criminals.

Trapster drew so much fire that they launched in 2010 and were gone by 2014. Its ironic how different the response is to Google Maps adding this feature.

Want to report speed traps with Google Maps?

Google Maps speed trap alerts are now available to Google Maps users on Android and iPhones devices. Android users, however, have an additional ability to report the speed traps they come across on their daily travels.

Here’s how to report a speed trap:

  • Go to a location near the speed trap you want to report.
  • Look for the speech bubble with a “+” inside. It will be on the right-hand side of your screen.
  • Press the speech bubble icon. You’ll then be taken to a new page where you can make a report.
  • Just choose “speed trap” as your selection to send the report.
  • That’s all folks!

The ability to see speed traps should be automatically enabled on all users’ phones.
