The Biden administration’s Principal Deputy Press Secretary, Olivia Dalton, declined to comment on the timing of Donald Trump’s recent indictment. A reporter pointed out that the indictment coincided with Congress revealing allegations against Joe and Hunter Biden for accepting bribes from a Ukrainian gas company, and noted that the timing was “suspicious”. The reporter then asked if there was any coordination between the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the White House regarding the indictment.
Dalton responded by stating that they would not comment on the matter. However, she claimed that President Biden and his senior staff found out about the indictment through news reports, just like the rest of the country, indicating they had no advanced knowledge.
The Biden administration’s stance is to distance itself from biased political actions and avoid any appearance of involvement in a targeted investigation using federal agencies. However, their credibility is in question due to a past incident involving Joe Biden and the FBI raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club.
In September 2022, there were reports suggesting that Joe Biden had ordered the raid on Trump’s residence, contradicting his previous claim of having no advanced notice. At the time, Biden’s press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, stated that the President and the White House had no prior knowledge of the raid. However, court documents later revealed that Biden did indeed order the FBI raid.
Given this information, it is understandable for people to question the Biden administration’s current claim of being unaware of Trump’s impending indictment.
