No matter how hard the totalitarian left has tried, they have been unable to extinguish the spark of freedom in Americans who value liberty and tradition.
In the latest example of perseverance in the face of despotism, hundreds of President Trump’s loyal supporters turned out in Pasadena, California on New Year’s Day to hold their own Rose Bowl parade after Democrat officials canceled it.
For the first time since World War II, America’s premier college football game wasn’t played at the 90,000 + seat Rose Bowl stadium in the Los Angeles suburbs, a must-watch television event for the spectacular setting and picturesque views.
Citing the coronavirus pandemic, officials forced the game to relocate to Texas, a preferred location for those fleeing the Golden State’s obscene taxes and one-party rule but on Friday, patriotic citizens showed up anyway in defiance of Gov. Gavin Newsom and Democrats who rule with an iron fist.
In a blow to Newsom, an estimated crowd of over 1,000 vehicles turned out with flags waving to take the traditional parade route down Colorado Avenue.

More than 1,000 vehicles with thousands of Trump supporters caravanned New Year’s Day, Friday, Jan. 1, along the famed Rose Parade route on Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena.
The iconic parade was canceled this year because of the coronavirus pandemic, though a television special aired. The Rose Bowl football game was moved to Texas.
The group began gathering at the empty Rose Bowl parking lot in the shadow of the San Gabriel Mountains between noon and 1 p.m. Participants were dressed in red, white and blue. Some were draped in Trump/Pence flags and many wore Make America Great Again hats. The caravan was dubbed Patriots’ Rose Parade.
Cars, trucks, SUVs and some older military vehicles were decorated with Make America Great Again signs, Old Glory and “Don’t Tread on Me” flags. Some were covered with roses. The group included various ages, from young children to senior citizens. Those in the caravan were honking loudly, playing the national anthem and “Proud to Be an American” by Lee Greenwood.
After 1:30 p.m., the group began moving toward Colorado Boulevard.
Lt. Bill Grisafe, a spokesman for the Pasadena Police Department, said police officers kept an eye on the caravan, which finally broke up near sundown.
“The only issue was the traffic in Old Pasadena,” he said.
The caravan, which stretched over seven blocks, encountered some hecklers and a large group of people who turned out to watch. It continued its route, stopping at red lights and then circling the route that the Rose Parade typically takes.
For the first time since 1942 when fear of an imperial Japanese attack on the west coast less than a month after Pearl Harbor forced the relocation of the game to Durham, NC, there wasn’t much to cheer about in Southern California.
Ironically, the 2017 Rose Bowl featured a pre-game tribute to those who played in the game and later went on to fight for freedom in the war. It was a time when America was still the land of the free and the home of the brave, unlike 2021 when millions have succumbed to the fear used by Democrats to justify their power grab.
The game itself was a major disappointment, there were no panoramic views at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX to make a stinker of a College Football Playoff tilt between the overmatched Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Nick Saban’s latest Alabama juggernaut.
The Irish were trounced 31-14 in a game not remotely as close as the lopsided score would indicate.
Whether the Rose Bowl and the parade will be held in Pasadena in 2021 is currently unknown.
